ALDI / LIDL
Come on then, anyone shop here?

I've got no shame in admitting that I've started to go there more and more over the last 6 months. Quality is invariably pretty high, and even the wealthy simply aren't willing to pay £3 for something that you can get for 70p elsewhere. Great fruit and veg, and their equivalent to a lot of the brand names are very similar indeed.

Yep. I shop at Lidl. I would shop at Aldi, too, if there was one nearby. I like Lidl.

Re: ALDI / LIDL
I have shopped there for many years before it became fashionable, great supermarkets, who needs 5 varieties of rich teas.
They are actually in danger of becoming a victim of their own success as my local one is so busy now I have stopped going to it as often. They are also having supply chain problems as they are set up for only one delivery a day and consequently shops are running out of certain things.

Lidl is brilliant.

Everybody in there is calm and polite, That's both staff and customers.

Walk round on a weekday morning, weekly shop £30 or £40 cheaper than Tescos. Nothing wrong at all with their own brand stuff, I was eating their weetabix equivalent for ages before I was made aware of the fact.

Go to Tescos afterwards and get anything that I couldn't find in Lidl. That's not much normally.

I've got a 15% discount card for sainsburys and lidls is still cheaper. The quality is just as good as well.

Both Lidl and Aldi are good supermarkets for the weekly shop. My local Lidl at Tottenham Hale makes excellent croissants and bread baked on the premises.

Re: ALDI / LIDL
I went to an Aldi the other day for the first time, partly out of curiosity and partly convenience. It is unbelievably cheap. Granted I normally shop at Waitrose but for your staples it's worth a visit. I got cans of peas and sweet corn for 16p, rice crispies for less than a pound, and a bar of snickers for 30p.

They had fillet steaks for a fiver too but I gave them a swerve, I'm not sure about eating meat that cheap.

I will be going again.

Buy quite a bit in Aldi, The fruit and veg Super Six deals can be great value. I don't have a Lidl close by otherwise I'd be in there too. Their half price weekend deals are often very good.

Like someone else said they are now becoming too popular and I am finding it a faff trying to park the car now.

Re: ALDI / LIDL
Tescos have blown it.

They had us by the bollocks for too long.

Their offers are shit, 3 for a tenner, no thanks I can get the same for £7 in Lidl.

Spend £140, here's a coupon to save a £5.

If you spend more next week.

Your coupon isn't valid yet.

Self service tills.

Fuelsave is shit as well. Spend loads to save a few pence.

Tescos, you've been found out.

Clubcard, my arse.
